October is Black history month, and we have been taking the chance to find out about other cultures in lessons.
Some children completed a series of sessions this week on Nigerian culture and cuisine (facilitated by our teaching assistant called Al), and Jamaican culture, Windrush and Jamaican cuisine (facilitated by a wonderful youth development worker called Lamar). They enjoyed making spicy chicken and finding about other cultures.
It is easy for children to occasionally fall into the habit of casual racism and we take every opportunity to educate our young people and support them in making positive choices.
