As an attachment aware school all staff understand the neuroscience behind attachment and trauma that stops vulnerable children from accessing learning. We are child centred and work hard to create nurturing and trusted relationships with young people.
We use this understanding to support us in:
-
developing a supportive and inclusive school culture.
-
developing classroom teaching and behaviour support strategies to allow vulnerable pupils to make progress.
-
build strong supportive relationships with parents and carers.
We use PACE and emotion coaching to support young people in building positive relationships.
Hollis Academy is part of the Middlesbrough PROCLAIM project. The project, led by Middlesbrough virtual schools, seeks to support all schools in the town in becoming attachment experts.
