KEY STAGE 3.

In years 7, 8 and 9 students receive 30 hours a week teaching and they access all National Curriculum subjects except MFL and music. In Years 7, 8 & 9 pupils follow which gives the pupils the opportunity to develop their learning skills, skills which are transferable and will enable them to access the curriculum and achieve at a level that is appropriate to each of them. Students stay with their tutors for Humanities, but are taught by subject specialists for all other subjects.

KEY STAGE 4.

In Years 10 AND 11 students receive 30 hours of teaching a week and follow GCSE and/or Entry Level Courses in a range of subjects. In addition they are also given the opportunity to take part in a range of Vocational Courses provided by a number of outside agencies including Middlesbrough College and The Keys. As well as gaining valuable vocational experience students gain an invaluable insight into the world of work.

It is very important to us at Hollis Academy that the young people who leave us at the end of Year 11 have accessed a curriculum that not only allows them to achieve nationally recognised qualifications but helps them to grow, mature and develop into responsible citizens. Therefore, we also work hard at developing the social and emotional aspects of learning which is delivered through a life skills programme across the Academy as well of forming part of lessons in all subject areas.
